How do I cancel a proposal my customer has already accepted?
Business admins can cancel a proposal after a customer has signed and accepted it, as long as no payments have been made on it.
What canceling does
Canceling an accepted proposal:
- Voids the invoice created from it
- Stops any renewal schedule tied to it
- Stops any incidentals policy tied to it
- Clears the customer's saved payment method, so nothing continues to charge
The signed proposal and the date the customer accepted it stay on record. Canceling does not erase that history.
When you cannot cancel
A proposal with any payment on it cannot be canceled. Refund the payment first, then cancel.
Starting over from a canceled proposal
Duplicating a canceled proposal carries its customer and project over automatically, so you do not have to re-enter them. The same is true for declined, expired, lost, and archived proposals.
FAQ
Does my customer get notified?
Check with your Titus contact before canceling if the customer is expecting work to proceed. Canceling stops billing but is not a substitute for telling them.
Can I cancel just the renewals and keep the proposal?
Renewal and incidentals settings can be changed on the project without canceling the proposal.
