How do I add sales tax on invoices and proposals?

You can add sales tax from the Totals section of any invoice or proposal. Simply click + Add sales tax and enter the appropriate tax rate.

If your invoice or proposal is linked to a project with a property address, Titus will display the estimated sales tax rate for that address as a helpful reference. This estimate is provided to save you the time of looking up the rate yourself, it does not automatically apply the tax or determine the correct rate for your business.

You are always responsible for entering, verifying, collecting, and remitting the correct sales tax for your jurisdiction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Titus file or remit sales tax for me?

No. Titus provides an estimated tax rate based on the project address to help you save time, but you are responsible for verifying the correct rate and collecting, filing, and remitting sales tax in accordance with your local tax laws. If you have questions about your tax obligations, consult your accountant or tax advisor.

Why is the estimated rate different from the rate I charge?

Sales tax rules vary by state, county, city, and the type of service being provided. In some jurisdictions, staging, photography, and related services are taxed differently. If the estimated rate doesn't match the rate you normally charge, use your verified rate—the sales tax field is always under your control.
