What do I do if my credit report is frozen?

If your Pay at Close application cannot continue because your credit is frozen, you’ll need to temporarily or permanently lift the freeze before retrying your application.

How to unfreeze your credit with Equifax

On the application error screen, you’ll see a direct link to Equifax’s credit freeze management page. From there, you can choose to:

  • Temporarily lift your freeze for a short period of time
  • Permanently remove the freeze

A temporary lift is usually enough to allow Titus to complete the credit check.

Manage your freeze here:
Equifax Credit Freeze Management

After lifting the freeze

Return to your application and select “Retry.”

Each retry submits a new credit pull request, so once your freeze has been lifted, the application should continue successfully.

Why only Equifax?

Titus currently uses Equifax as the primary credit bureau for these checks. If your credit is frozen with other bureaus, it will not prevent your Titus application from moving forward, though you may still want to manage those freezes separately.

FAQ

Do I need to pay to lift my Equifax freeze?
No. Federal law requires all three major credit bureaus to provide credit freezes and unfreezes at no cost.

How long does it take?
Most online freeze lifts are completed within minutes. Equifax also offers phone and mail options if preferred.

If I temporarily lift my freeze, will it automatically re-freeze?
Yes. If you choose a temporary lift, the freeze will automatically be reinstated after the selected timeframe expires. If you permanently remove the freeze, you can re-enable it at any time through the same Equifax page.
