What do I need to be a verified vendor through Titus?

When you create a Titus business account, we verify your business against state and federal records. Most businesses are verified automatically within minutes. To help ensure a smooth verification process, have the information below ready and enter it exactly as it appears on your official documents.

What We Verify

  • Business name — Matched against your state registration.
  • Business address — Matched against your registration records.
  • EIN / Tax ID — Matched against IRS records.
  • Your identity — The person creating the account completes a quick identity verification.
  • Your role — The account creator should be an owner or officer of the business.

What to Have Ready

Your legal business name

Enter your business name exactly as it appears on your state registration or IRS paperwork, including suffixes such as LLC, Inc., or Corp. Avoid using a DBA, trade name, or shortened version unless it is your legal business name.

Your EIN (or SSN)

Enter your Employer Identification Number (EIN) exactly as it appears on your IRS CP-575 EIN Confirmation Letter. If you're a sole proprietor without an EIN, you may use your Social Security Number (SSN).

Your registered business address

Whenever possible, use the address listed on your state registration.

If you operate your business from home, that's perfectly fine, many of our customers do. However, if your registration lists a different address (such as your registered agent's address), we may ask for one document showing both your business name and address, such as:

  • A bank statement
  • Your IRS CP-575 EIN Confirmation Letter

A government-issued photo ID

The account owner will verify their identity during signup. If the automatic verification doesn't succeed, you can try again or upload a photo of your government-issued ID.

Common Situations (and How to Get Verified Quickly):

I just received my EIN

New EINs can take several weeks to appear in IRS verification systems. If your business was recently established, you can either:

  • Wait a few business days and try again, or
  • Upload your IRS CP-575 EIN Confirmation Letter so we can verify your business manually.

I'm a sole proprietor without state registration

No problem—you can still create a Titus account.

We'll typically ask for:

  • Your EIN Confirmation Letter (or SSN-based IRS documentation), and
  • One supporting document, such as:
    • A business license, or
    • Schedule C from your federal tax return.

Someone else is creating the account

Verification is usually fastest when the account is created by a listed owner or business officer.

If an office manager, assistant, or spouse is creating the account on the owner's behalf, we may request documentation showing they are authorized to do so, or ask the owner to be added to the account.

I entered something incorrectly

Typos are one of the most common reasons verification doesn't go through.

You can update your business information and re-run verification directly from your Titus dashboard. In most cases, verification is completed within minutes after the correction.

If We Need Additional Information:

If we can't verify your business automatically, our team will review your account within one business day.

If additional documentation is needed, we'll contact you by email and you'll be able to upload documents directly from your Titus dashboard.

Commonly accepted documents include:

  • IRS CP-575 EIN Confirmation Letter
  • Bank statement showing your business name and address
  • Lease agreement
  • Utility bill
  • Business license
  • Schedule C (for sole proprietors)
  • Articles of Organization (for LLCs)
  • Operating Agreement (for LLCs)

Once your documents have been reviewed and your business has been verified, we'll send you a confirmation email and your account will be ready to use.
