Why did my card payment fail?
When a card or bank payment fails, Titus displays the specific reason returned by our payment processor, not a generic "something went wrong" message.
Every failed payment also includes a reference code. If you need to contact Support, include this code first. It allows us to quickly locate your transaction without needing your card number or the exact time of the payment attempt.
What to Do When a Payment Fails
- Read the error message. It explains why the payment didn't go through, such as:
- Card declined
- Insufficient funds
- Bank debit returned
- Resolve the issue, if possible.
- Card declined: Your bank may have blocked the transaction. Try another payment method or call the number on the back of your card for more information.
- Bank debit returned: The account may have insufficient funds, or your bank may have declined the debit. Contact your bank if you're unsure why it was returned.
- Contact Support if you still need help. Include the reference code from the error message so we can quickly trace the transaction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Was I charged for a failed payment?
No. If a payment fails, no funds are transferred.
If you notice a pending charge on your bank or credit card statement, it's typically a temporary authorization hold. Your financial institution will usually release it within 1–3 business days, although timing may vary by bank.
Where can I find the reference code later?
The referenced code is unique for each payment error. It is only available within the error message itself.
